Strategic Plan Goal

Responsible leadership and governance - Strategies

L.1. Facilitate and advocate for accessible health, emergency, and community services, along with arts, culture, sports, recreation, education, and employment pathways, to foster sustainable lifestyles for families.

L.2. Promote youth engagement in our region by offering opportunities for leadership, social involvement, community activities, and economic and business participation.

Economically prosperous peninsula - Strategies

P.1. Review development assessment processes to provide greater certainty for applicants and promote appropriate growth and development opportunities.

P.3. Future proof the prosperity of the region by reviewing all existing strategic documents and putting into place additional plans to guide future growth (e.g., infrastructure plans).

P.4. Facilitate the attraction and delivery of local and regional community based events that cater to all age groups, promote the peninsula and attract visitors to the region.

P.5. Actively engage with local industry and businesses to encourage and support economic development and employment opportunities.

P.6. Advocate for growth and investment on behalf of key and emerging industries and employment generating activities.

P.7. Improve visitor experiences, including bins and amenity blocks, signage, online and print information.

P.8. Work toward the more efficient delivery of permits, leases and licenses.

A.1. Develop and deliver on Asset Management Plans for all asset classes.

E.1. Improve the effective management, collection, recycling and disposal of waste.

E.2. Create visitor experiences that leverage our natural landscapes.

E.3. Actively promote, protect, rehabilitate, and conserve our natural environment and coastal areas through partnerships.

E.4. Contribute to the development of a long-term approach to waste management on the Yorke Peninsula.

E.5. Refine and implement procurement policies, contract management and asset management to better incorporate ‘green’ criteria.

E.6. Collaborate with industry partners to develop and integrate nature-based tourism experiences, securing funding to protect, conserve, and enjoy our natural environment.

E.7. Develop, review and deliver Environmental Plans.

Supported and engaged communities - Strategies

C.1. Support Progress Associations and other local community groups to improve community and environmental outcomes.

C.2. Work with stakeholders to create future strategies for maintaining, expanding, and providing disability services to the community.

C.3. Identity opportunities to provide greater diversity of housing including advocacy for independent living options.

C.4. Support existing volunteers and identify other opportunities to encourage volunteering across all age groups to promote a diversity of thinking and shared workloads.

C.5. Invest in, facilitate and advocate for youth activities and events.

To acknowledge the Yorke Peninsula Council as a sponsor of the project / activity in any publication or promotion.
