In accordance with Council’s PO105 Council Ceremonies and Civic Events Policy, Progress Associations and Community Groups across Yorke Peninsula are invited to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to host Yorke Peninsula Council’s formal Australia Day celebrations.
This important annual event includes the presentation of the region’s Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Community Event of the Year, and Award for Active Citizenship. Council is seeking to rotate hosting across the Peninsula, supporting local communities and providing opportunities for fundraising and increased visitation on the public holiday (26 January).
The successful incorporated body will work collaboratively with Council to deliver the event, including providing the venue, catering, and arranging professional photography. Council will submit a funding application to the National Australia Day Council in partnership with the successful host, with the final event budget subject to the outcome of this grant.
Communities that already host local Australia Day events or awards ceremonies are encouraged to consider combining these with Council’s official ceremony to maximise attendance and fundraising opportunities.
Please complete the following EOI form to be considered for hosting the upcoming Australia Day Award Ceremony. The 2027 application closes at 5pm on 14 August 2026.
